How To Clean Your Ears At Home


Ears can be pawned for different reasons: if too much water gets there (for example, when we swim in the pool), or simply because too much sulfur has accumulated inside.

Natural and inexpensive products that are easy to prepare and use at home will help you clean your ears and prevent possible hearing problems and infections.

Why do the ears form stoppers?

One of the most common causes is respiratory infections associated with the upper respiratory tract. It can be, for example, a sinus or a cold. If the nasal passages associated with the inner ear are filled with mucus, it can provoke ear congestion.

The second reason is accumulations of sulfur, when solid plugs are formed in the ear , which can be removed only in a certain way with the help of specific instruments.

As we already mentioned above, constant contact with water can be associated with a permanent stuffiness of the ears. Swimmers very often suffer from excess water in the internal auditory canal if they do not use earplugs.

This is confirmed by the fact that in summer the number of people complaining about their ears is increasing dramatically. All who bathe in the river, the sea or the basin, may suffer from excess water and a foreign body in the ear.

At high altitude, people also often experience discomfort in the ears due to pressure drops. That’s why the passengers of aircraft often complain about the stuffed ears , especially during take-off. Also, this often happens during excursions to places that are located at an altitude of several thousand meters above sea level. 

How to properly clean the ears in each case

If your ears are pawned by surplus earwax, which accumulates inside and forms sulfur plugs, try the following home remedies:

Mix alcohol and vinegar in equal proportions, tilt your head in the side and drip a few drops into your ears with a pipette. Keep this position for five minutes. Place the cotton swab inside the ear and return to the upright position.

Another option: mix a few drops of warm water, a few drops of olive oil or baby oil for the body. Drink this mixture in your ear, tilt your head to the side and stay in that position for five minutes. Clean your ear with a soft cloth. Wash it with warm water to soften the sulfur, and gently wipe the towel. In any case, do not use earplugs, as they contribute to the accumulation of sulfur and the formation of traffic jams.

If the ears are laid during the flight or pressure drop, you can ease your condition with caramel or gum (lollipops are usually given out on the plane). Accumulate more saliva in your mouth and swallow it – this will help balance the pressure.

Another option is to open your mouth as wide as possible to make yourself yawn. Coming inside the larynx air will help balance the pressure. You can also gently clamp your nose and exhale with a closed mouth – do not overdo it so as not to damage the eardrums.

If the ears are laid because of a cold or sinusitis, a steam bath can help improve the situation. Breathe in hot steam to cure ears and nose. If you add a few drops of lavender or eucalyptus oil and a little bit of salt to the water, you will further enhance the effect of steam. You can blow your nose several times in a handkerchief to remove excess mucus and to ease the condition of the stuffy nose and ears.

You can also use hydrogen peroxide – it gives good results if you drip one or two drops in the stuffed ear. It is desirable to lie in one position for several minutes, so that  peroxide can penetrate deep into the auditory canal and relief comes more quickly.

If the situation worsens the dry air in the room, use an air humidifier to cool it a little and make the atmosphere in the room more pleasant. This will help remove mucus from the ear and clear the auditory and nasal canals.

A simple folk recipe that has been practiced for many years (surely your mom and grandmother know about it) is to use a bottle of hot water. You can also use the hot water bottle. Put your ear to the hot bottle and you will feel how in a few minutes the cork will begin to soften.

If improvement does not occur, it is best to see a doctor, otherwise problems with hearing are almost inevitable.
